Along with January being a hard month for me... i managed to break my pinkie... i know i know.. how the heck did you break your special little pinkies? Well, i'll explain... I was cleaning my apartment and roscoe got ahold of a teddy bear that i had gotten mike for our first Valentines... Roscoe knows hes not suppose to chew stuffed animals.. so i simply took it from him and gave him a little pat on the nose.. and botta bing botta boom... within an hour i noticed my hand was swollen and bruised and i could hardly move my pinky or ring finger..... okay, okay i know what your thinking.. that pat must have been pretty hard to break your hand... but FYI i had previously hurt my hand and it was really sore so i could have broke it on just about anything.. but i must have hit it just right when i gave him a little pat on the nose. I didn't think much of it at first.. i thought oh maybe its just a pulled muscle.. i had never broken a bone before so i didn't know what the pain was like. I went to work the next day... in ALOT of pain and managed to make it though my 12 hour shift without passing out from the pain. I called Mikey to come pick me up, i really didn't feel like sitting at the emergency room for several hours just to be charged ten times the amount, So we went to community care.
I swear community care just must be blind. They took x-rays of my hand and then told me that my pinkies are genetically messed up and that there was nothing wrong that they could see from the inside, but they were pretty sure from the look of how my hand was swollen and bruised that something was wrong, so they wanted to refer me to a specialist because of my genetically small pinkies. heres a pic of what community care did... it hurt like hell and it did nothing to stop the pain.
OH JOY! So i went to see the specialist... Dr. Thurman. He and his staff were super nice, he took a two second glance of the x-rays and told me it was broken, that simple. I had a double Compound fracture in my metacarpal of my pinkie, the solution, a cast for 2-4 weeks depending on how fast my bones heal then a special brace for 4-6 weeks.
I must say, breaking my pinkie in two spots has been the most pain i've been in, in a long time! Its been just about 7 weeks since its happened..After two casts, my cast is off and now i wear a special brace on my right hand. This experience has been such a pain and has put my life on hold.
